In October last year James McCartney played a handful of UK shows, playing anonymously under the name 'Light'. His whereabouts were soon discovered by one of the UK's largest tabloid newspapers who, unbeknownst to James, were reviewing the show. The newspaper raved about his performance, reporting that his 11 song set was 'a mixture of full-throttle stormers and delicate acoustic numbers' and declared 'James has a way with melody'.
This March, multi-instrumentalist James will embark on his first ever UK tour. If these shows are anything like his 2009 warm-up shows, the audience are in for a night of blistering rock tunes. His songs are melody driven, hook laden anthems that show songwriting clearly runs in the family.
James has been playing music all his life. In 2009 he played a handful of shows in the UK and the US. He's spent much of the last two years writing and recording for his forthcoming debut album which he has been working on with producer David Kahne. Talking about his music James says, "The music was inspired by The Beatles, Nirvana, The Cure, PJ Harvey, Radiohead - and all good music. It is basically rock n' roll, clean sounding and vocal. We are mixing our album in Sussex and New York. The words on the album refer to spirituality, love, family, trying to sort out one's life, and many other things. I have written the songs over a 10-year period."
Today James announces his first ever UK tour that will see him play 14 shows in the UK from end of February and throughout March.

The Kayas to support James McCartney in Birmingham
Shropshire-based three-piece Indie band The Kayas will support James McCartney at the O2 Academy 3, Birmingham, on March 19th. The show is one of 14 dates on multi-instrumentalist McCartney’s first ever UK tour, which finishes in Cardiff on March 20th.
2010 has so far proved a successful year for The Kayas, whose songs from a BBC Shropshire live session featured on Tom Robinson’s BBC Radio 6 music show in January. Further live sessions are scheduled at BBC Radio Shropshire and Manchester Radio Online. The band also continues its run of support slots for Twisted Wheel and will appear on the main stage at OSFEST in May, alongside Reverend and the Makers.
Formed in 2007 by singer/songwriter/guitarist Ad Edwards, the band’s current line-up, featuring Edwards on vocals and guitar, Tomos Jarvis on drums and Philie Jones on bass, has proved a winning combination, establishing The Kayas’ “signature sound” and gaining the respect of producers, radio stations, fellow artists and fans along the way.
During the last two years, The Kayas have toured extensively throughout the UK, establishing a growing fan base and receiving an increasing amount of airplay for their most popular anthems such as “Chavtastic”, hotly tipped by Jim Gellatly (BBC Radio Scotland) and featured on BBC Radio Wales.
