Rolo Tomassi are a band from Sheffield, England. Their name is taken from the fictional character Rollo Tomasi in the film LA Confidential. The band formed in 2005 and set their local scene alight by playing a synth driven technical mix of styles and genres difficult to define in a single word.
ROLO TOMASSI can finally announce they will be releasing their astonishing 2nd album, ‘Cosmology’, through Hassle Records (Alkaline Trio, Trash Talk, Cancer Bats) on May 24th. The band will be following their recent sold out headline Jan 2010 UK tour, the recent support slot with Enter Shikari and The King Blues, a slot on the Australian Soundwave Festival, a handful of support slots with legends, Jane’s Addiction with a joint European tour with fast rising Trash Talk through March and April. This will extend into the UK as a ROLO TOMASSI headline tour, with Trash Talk and Throats in support (all dates below). On top of all this, the band can now ALSO be announced as support on the Biffy Clyro UK arena tour in April and May (all dates below).
The new album marks a more assured step forward, as explained by James Spence (Keyboards/Vocals); "With this album, we really feel as though we've finally settled into our own sound. In the past we struggled to truly pin down what we wanted to do musically and that has been demonstrated in earlier material, but with 'Cosmology', we feel as though we're taking the band where we've always intended to".
Eva Spence (Vocals) continues; "Because this album was written in the space of a few months, the songs were really fresh going over to LA rather than it being a gradual process, as it was with Hysterics. It was amazing to have the experience in somewhere completely different with a producer like Diplo and it really felt like a new start for the band."
